Parkitect early build available

Oh. So the $25 gets me what, the soundtrack in like mp4 format or something? So the game has sound without the extra 10 bucks?

Lord Gonchar's avatar

Yes, exactly.

Ok, I give up. How do you rotate the entrances and exits? When I press the spacebar, it rotates 90 degrees to the left and then rotates back to the original position automatically.

Lord Gonchar's avatar

Not quite following.

Rotate them for connecting to different sides of the rides or rotate for connecting the queue sideways instead of straight out?

If the former, they should automatically connect to whichever side you want to place it on.

If the latter, that feature isn't in the current build, but I believe will be included with the next build. (usually available at the beginning of each calendar month)

Vater's avatar

I was referring to the latter (rotating for connecting queue sideways adjacent to the ride). You posted that pic earlier so I assumed it was in the latest release.

They share the updates they've done on a weekly basis, but the builds come out monthly.

Not sure if anyone else figured it out but, do not delete the station as the designer doesn't let you place a new one.

Dammit. Just ran into this issue and looked back through this thread to see if someone else had, too. Won't be making that mistake again.

Already finding fun little bugs. They all seem to be related to the track builder. The more I use it, the more I like it, but unfortunately I have yet to build a working coaster.

Coaster #1: I deleted the station (as I mentioned), which made it impossible to complete it.

Coaster #2: I didn't get far with this one because a track remnant appeared, so I deleted the whole coaster to see if I could get rid of the remnant (I couldn't, so I used the terraformer to hide it).

Coaster #3: I actually completed the circuit, but when I tested it, the trains never moved. I figured maybe I needed to make the final brake a block brake, so I deleted it. Then I was unable to build any more track. I could delete track, but not add it. But the ghost train seemed to think it was still there.

You can also see the height marker pointing to the track remnant of #2 beneath the hill in the bottom left corner.

I tried to save the game at this point to see if I could reload it and try building again, but the save threw an error.

Coaster #1: You can complete it, but the station needs to be at a full height, e.g. 3 or 4, not 3 1/2. The tooltips for segments that can't be build need explanations for why building them isn't possible.

Coaster #2: This is fixed for the next version (unless there are multiple ways to trigger it).

Coaster #3: I think your game might have been paused, or did the ghost train move to that position? The only way I know to get the ghost train off the tracks is by deleting them while the game is paused.

Currently trying to figure out the save issue :)

What about building backwards? (Yeah, it's hard to let go. :))

Nothing new there yet :(

I found a lot of difficulty in editing a coaster, say selecting a few pieces in the middle of the ride, deleting it and rebuilding. It was very hard to get it back to the connecting track. This and the building backwards are a bit annoying. Overall, though, I do think the concept of this coaster builder is better than the RCT canon that has been in place for three versions of the game.

Certain victory.

Ah, thanks, that was it. Took quite a bit of reworking the ending to finish at an even 4. Once the pieces start ending on odd eighths (1/8, 7/8, etc.) it gets a little tricky.

That was likely the problem, because I did have it paused for a while as I was building. But the ghost train was in fact moving over no track. It actually kept on moving straight through and past the turn into the station. I paused the game at the right moment to capture the screenshot. Unfortunately I can't recreate since I couldn't save. :) Here's the error I got if it helps:

Weird to see a .NET stack trace from a game, but I guess with so much running on Unity I shouldn't be surprised.

That annoyed the piss out of me when I first started, but like much of the game, once you get the hang of the different angles of track and how different lengths of track affect the rise and slope of those angles, it's very versatile.

Yeah, there's definitely a learning curve, but it's gotten much easier. Is there a way to hide supports? That'd be helpful, especially with wooden coasters.

Lord Gonchar's avatar

I don't think so.

Sometimes hitting "M" and going into map view can help.

Lord Gonchar's avatar

My attempt to do something interesting with the suspended coaster for this month's build-off.

I need to start mucking around with mods. Good stuff.

At this point, the available mods add a buttload to the game.
