Playland accident inspires mother to write musical

Elayne Cassara's musical "Eternity" is based on her family's tragedy at Playland Amusement Park in Rye. Cassara wrote the musical and stars as herself — a mother struggling with the death of her 7-year-old son. Her boy, Jon-Kely, fell off a ride in August, and his mother, who was with him that day, wrote the musical as her way of coping and spreading a message that people can transcend tragedy by embracing God.
