Cedar Fair accepts sealed bids for Geauga Lake property

I love the comments on the Vain Pleader story. Still conspiracy theorists who can't let go or accept the fact that it just wasn't a viable business.

Be real interesting to see what the bids are, especially given the economic state of the Cleveland area right now... But then again, another condo development will help lower the taxes on every one else's condos as the values depreciate a bit...

I wonder how much Cedar Fair has to disclose once they reach a deal. I assume those are the kinds of financials that have to be stated as a public company.

I dunno, doesn't sound like much of an enthusiast to me. If an enthusiast did make that comment, it's a very sheltered one. I'm not saying some of the comments haven't come from enthusiasts, but why is it so hard to believe that non-enthusiasts might also be missing the park and wishing it was still there?

Seems like a lot of "look at the idiot enthusiasts" comments on this, an enthusiast site, no less.

While Im not in that group, I don't think they made the right decissions to help make the park successful. The fact that the entire park was in two different taxation zones didn't help but they knew that going in. If they were going to shut down Seaworld, Why didn't they just locate the whole show to the rides side?

That wouldn't have reduced the tax, it would've made it worse! The ride side was in the higher taxing school district.

Im sorry this is the first I am reading of this story and I cannot find an answer to my thought or question. I know Cedar Fair bought Geauga Lake, and turned it into a water park, are they closing the water park, or just selling the land they feel they will not need to maintain a water park? I mean the web site still says the park is open, so im trying to figure out what they mean by the now closed Geauga Lake Park (assuming they mean the water park?) Thats for someone clarifying... Just trying to see if I need to visit the water park before they shut it down forevere, if that is the intention... Ron

The ride park is closed and being dismantled. The water park will remain open, and it is not their intention to close it.

It wasn't a viable business? It would be viable if there wasn't poor management and greedy owners. Give me a break.
