Cedar Point wins Golden Tickets for best park, steel coaster again

These golde tickets are BS if CP is the best park why is attendence down? I also think Magnum shouldn't even be in the top ten. Cedar fair must be paying someone off. How does TTD get in the top ten when KK is taller and faster WTF

Maybe cuz KK was down about 90% of the summer...?

I know these surveys are, well, unscientific, but even still, some of the categories are headscratchers.

For example, I've seen SFFT's laser show. It's projected on the quarry wall. It's good. It garnered 21% of the vote.

I've seen Fantasmic! at Disneyland. It's better. It garnered 13% of the vote. If you add Disneyland's Fantasmic! with Disney-MGM's version (which, IMO is not quite as good as DL's, but still vastly better than the SFFT show) you get Fantasmic! 25%, SFFT 21%. Still far closer than I would have expected.

These golde tickets are BS...

It is just a survey of opinions, you have yours, everyone else has theirs. In the end, neither really matter in the grand scheme of things.

All I'm going to say is Congrats Cedar Point and Dollywood.

I think most of the results are justified, and most of my votes were similiar. Yes there are a few "head-scratchers" but for the most part I can agree with the outcome. These votes are NOT bullcrap in the least.

Thunderhead is kicking bootie! Woohoo!

Some of the steel coasters I would rearrange in order. ;-)

I personally voted Dollywood for "best food" but for the life of me I can't remember what exactly at Epcot is that delish. ;-)

Anyway, congrats to all the parks!

Knoebel's got best food again, Phoenix was the #4 wood, and Twister was #22 or so. I'm pleased.

A well-deserved congratulations to Mt. O for best new ride, Best Place to Ride Go-Karts and Nick L. as Person of the Year.

Also congrats for Hades' strong showing in the woodie standings. I haven't done T'head or Phoenix, but I will say first-hand that ST, BD and Raven have absolutely no business ranking above the Hellish One. None. Nada. Not even remotely close. You can at least argue that BD is pretty, but that's about it.

If Cedar Point still did enough to garner Best Park this year, I'd hate to see what some of the voters experienced at other parks! That's certainly not where my vote would have gone this year ...

I'm I the only one who noticed that the top 5 coasters actually the top 9 coasters are all non looping coasters wow! Does that show something.

glad to see thunderead take number #1-as much as we all hate to say it, admit it Magnum is still a top 10 ride(idk about being #3...) and CP is hands down the best park. They rank in nearly ever cat. from best staff to best go-karts

Actually, Mathyou, I believe PKI ranks first in seasonal parks in attendance, so it has nothing to do with KK.

While fun to talk about for a day or so, be honest and look at the awards for what they really are: A chance to sell more advertising in the pages of AT. If you don't believe me look at the PDF of the magazine pages:

Like many trade rags, this one too is bordering on complete irrelevancy.

i wonder why parks who win decide to take out full page ads in the magazine that runs the awards...

Hey--movie studios take out multiple full-page 'for your consideration' ads promoting films that weren't worth their weight in celluloid BEFORE the Oscars or Golden Globes.

On the real world scale of sellouts and farces, this doesn't even register.

True- The real winners can show it in profitability, strength of brand, attendance, length of stay to name a few.

Just a little note to add to what has been mentioned. Look at any magazine and see what the articles are about, specifically what people/products/services/companies are featured. Then look at the advertising. If you see any overlap, that magazine just lost it's objectivity and in my mind credibility too.

It had chicken and rosted lamb along with some authentic sides it was some of the best food I've ever had. I'd say epcot wins just by Pure multitude of quite tasty choices. Anything from Sushi to Burritos theres a winner. Anywhos those are my two cents.

For what it's worth, I read the articles in The Amusement Today magazine and couldn't find anything disappointing about the winners of the different catagories. I think they all deserved what they earned. It's only natural to feel that one ride or park should have done better than another, but, hey, we all have our favorites, and to you, and you alone that's all that matters.
