Well suprised that nobody has said anything about this one. Most people don't know this was once a park. Its pretty sad to see this park as it stands, It would be nice to see if they could do something with it. Anyone know what they would plan on doing with it?

Its just a land purchase. Please, no park rumors just yet.

The park district isn't rich. It'll be a public park and little more than that. They'll likely tear down the remaining structures in the process. This isn't about preserving anything, it's about making that corner of the county less of a trashy rural ghetto.

Jeff is 100 percent right. A county park district has no interest in operating a Amusement park. Chuck

^^damned accurate description. That whole area by the park looks bad. The roads are terrible. Lot and House values are high though, possibly waiting for a rebirth of that side of the lake.We went by there a few weeks ago. Looks sad. *** This post was edited by FLYINGSCOOTER 3/21/2007 9:38:31 AM ***

Obviously, the park district wouldn't try to resurrect the park. It's not their business, they're not made of money, and there are a series of other reasons why it wouldn't be viable, reasons with abbreviations like CP, GL, KW. However, it would be interesting to see if they might try to restore a landmark or two, in the interest of preserving history. I'm not talking operating a ride here, merely fixing up a historic building or turning a carousel base into a picnic pavilion Does anybody have any recent pictures of the property to see if there is anything there worth saving?

My guess is it would, at best, be similar to the state park where Euclid Beach used to stand. I haven't been there in a few years, but there used to be a plaque or two indicating where rides were and a couple of foundations were still in the ground. Beyond that, and the pier and sidewalk, you would be hard pressed to ever know it was an amusement park.

Hmmmmm.. I thought that land was sold to a developer a while ago. Anyway, a city park with swimming, a boat launch and fishing would be a great use of that land. It's very beautiful and it would be nice to see something done with it. Oh, and just for kicks... Perhaps they'll build a Giga Coaster111!!!!!111

Jeff, I didn't say anything about preserving. I was saying, that the condition of Chippewa Lake Park, looks horrible and degrading. If they did develop this land, they could improve the image and possibly provide a museum for history of the park and/ or land. I think it is a good idea for them to develop it, if they can buy the land.
