I wonder if he was inspired by the two girls from my area who phoned in bomb threats to their school a few years ago because they wanted to get out of taking a test.

When you only pay minimum wage, you get lazy, unpleasant employees.

Idlewild pays less than minimum wage. PA minimum wage is $7.15 and Idlewild only pays $6.40 during the summer season (I think a little more during Hallowboo though). They give a $1 per hour bonus but only if you meet certain requirements.
I worked there for 2 summers and I loved the work, just the pay didn't justify the drive or 60 hour work weeks.

as an employee of the park, i do not condone his actions. even if he was just doing it as a joke or to get out of work, threatening the park, its guests, and most importantly the other employees with a bomb threat goes far beyond excusable behavior. but i really don't blame him for doing something like this. people say that he would have just called off...but what they dont take into account is that the park will take away an employee's bonus if he/she calls off without a "reasonable excuse." its pathetic that a park makes you work to collect a bonus that will just barely justify the increased minimum wage. what about the people who quit halfway through the summer? they don't get a bonus, thus they were not paid minimum wage for their time at work. like i said, rob really screwed up, but it was either that or lose his bonus for calling off. he just didn't understand the consequences of what he did.
