Sweet! Sounds like we're getting a Disk-o too! I always had my suspicions about the fountain. Seemed like the only logical place to install a free-fall (bouncing spring?) ride. I only hope it isn't from S&S. Not that I don't like them--I do, especially when they're cranked up. But given the noise can generate over time (VF's farting Turbo Drop, anyone?) it might suffer a fair amount of downtime. The $30 million upgrade cost is more than a traditional outdoor park would pay. Remember, the heavy demolition / contruction won't start until after 10 pm. -'Playa

"Camp Snoopy had popular characters, but limited possibilities. Nickelodeon is high energy and constantly evolving." Exactly why CF should put down the dog and negotiate the Nick rights for all their properties.

It didn't require registration for me to read.

When they talk about the Spongebob coaster, do they mean the Eurofighter that was announced before Nick came in to town? Will the first hill go straight up, over, and straight down the pineapple house? Will the cars look like boats? This could be a whole new thread. But I digress.

Is the mystery mine ride the simulator ride???

"Sweet! Sounds like we're getting a Disk-o too!" I think that the Avatar ride they are talking about is the Half Pipe.

I'm guessing SpongeBob is the Eurofighter. Themed to a driving lesson? Yes! PLEASE! Some of the older press releases made it sound as if the Eurofighter was themed to Avatar--but I guess the (apparent) Disk-o will be themed to it instead, much like PKI. Perhaps a bit more subtly? One can only hope. -'Playa *** This post was edited by CoastaPlaya 7/24/2007 2:45:06 PM ***

It's an amusement park Playa. When did subtly become part of the equation? -Tambo

But it's also an indoor park with 500 tenants coughing up lots and lots of money to lease space. So the NIMBYvoices are more likely to be heard... Oh who am I kidding? A 20-foot tall cartoon character won't make any audible NOISE. We're doomed. *puts head in hands* -'Playa

I would prefer a half pipe to a disk-o but either one is fine if we are getting a Sponge Bob eurofighter. This is great news. The only ride I can think of for the spring ride is an S&S double shot. I am all over that.
Half-pipe? Serious? Why? I mean, it's a coaster I guess, but if MY money were on the line, I'd go with the proven product from Zamperla...
Because I went on a disk-o at MtO and it did not impress me at all. I'd rather have a bigger faster ride even if it has 50% down time.

http://www.rcdb.com/id3727.htm here is the link to spongebob and it is a lot cheaper then I would of thought. 2.9 million is not alot of money for a coaster these days.

This is very good news. The Park at MOA seriously needed a new direction. This is encouraging. Via overflow, it could even breathe some life into the 4th floor entertainment area of MOA. Much of that area has been empty for a couple of years. Even the Hooters on the 4th floor was dead on a Saturday evening couple weeks ago when we stopped in.

Having personally seen the drawings, the Half Pipe will indeed be an Intamin half pipe. It will go underneath the Ripsaw coaster and will require the reconfiguring of a couple of it's stupports. The Spring ride will likely not be an S&S. Hence the billing as "spring ride" My guess is that it will either come from ARM (you may have seen thier portable "super shot" models) or from an Italian manufacturer. It will have 4 seats on all 4 sides. We will also be recieving kiddie bumper cars in the space currently occupied by Hunter's Paradise. Finally, they will be replacing Red Barron with a similar ride that adults can ride. It will be themed to a Nick property. Construction starts in August!*** This post was edited by CoasterCameron 7/24/2007 11:34:35 PM ***

"In an effort to put kids first during the transformation process, Mall of America and Nickelodeon established the first ever MOA/Nickelodeon Kids' Panel, consisting of 32 kids between ages 8 and 12. This group of "experts" will meet monthly for interactive sessions to help with the design and creative process. The panel is intended to bring curiosity, wild imaginations and humor to Nickelodeon Universe." How sweet is that?

Cameron, where did you see the images? I guess I'm a little surprised they aren't billing the expansion as two coasters instead of only one if it's an Intamin instead of a Disk-O. Not saying I doubt you. But a looky-look would be nice... -'Playa

RavenTTD said: "I went on a disk-o at MtO and it did not impress me at all. I'd rather have a bigger faster ride even if it has 50% down time." Been on the "MegaDisk'O" yet? Avatar or Survivor? They're considerably more fun. I'd have LOVED to try the Cosmic Chaos, but it was DDM on our second day, and I was too busy riding wood to get on it the first night... The Half-Pipe sounded like a good concept....wasn't *nearly* as much fun in action...just MY opinion....

I was getting the registration page with links from here, but I could get thru with links from google. If you are having trouble I would suggest googling it. Edit: ^nope, just the one. I hope I like the half pipe, but it could not be any worse than the one at MtO.*** This post was edited by RavenTTD 7/25/2007 12:24:44 PM ***

The *problem* I had with the Half-pipe was the seating configuration...when you LAUNCH a ride, it helps if everyone is seated facing forward. But the way the ride is designed, at most one-fourth of the riders face that way, and the rest suffer from either neck-strain or headbanging - since I was facing sideways, I got the latter... Cosmic Chaos LOOKED like it did a better job, with better capacity...reliability notwithstanding, LOL.
My problem with the Half-Pipe is that it was dead on my only visit to SFEG. So was Twister II. Sure, it was open and I rode it. But that didn't help much.-'Playa

Well, if both rides suck, at least the half pipe is another credit.
I guess my biggest concern now--by FAR--is that the park risks losing its 'outdoor park, just with a roof' feel to become a Cedar Fair cement-and-steel-girder jungle. Given some of the floral displays they've put on lately in 'the park', it's a remote fear. But I can't deny the nagging worry... -'Playa

The Half Pipe is a surprisingly fun ride, but like Gator said, head-bangange is an issue when you're facing sideways.

I've ridden the Halfpipe at SFEG. I thought it was OK. The couple times I rode it it didn't really spin much. And the line is way slow.

so r we getting the model of Eurotrip 320+ or what kind. what is the difference between halfpipe and disk'obecause i rode disk'o at mt.olympus and it was ok and ive never heard of halfpipe.if totally excited for the launch ride.
^ it was EuroFighter 320+ but i still dont no if thats the right one

i got this from a website: a fourth coaster taking a step away from the superficial family-friendly nature of the other three, was announced late last year and is still expected to debut next year. That yet-unnamed ride is a "Euro-Fighter" model from German manufacturer Gerstlauer expected to feature a vertical lift, 95-degree drop, and two inversions. Plankton's Plunge, perhaps? Only time will tell.

Not to start a rumor, but the Mall of America does have a large underwater area that would be perfect for SpongeBob. By bringing in SpongeBob & Patrick and making admission to Underwater World free, it may be a great way to bring in more visitors. I know I’ve been to the mall many many times but never paid to see Underwater World. i just found that from a website and it would be a great idea bc ive been to underwater world and it could get some help.
